49-3 : not sure to reach 64...

It was just under 3 p.m. when Elisabeth Borne, Prime Minister, announced that she would once again use Article 49 paragraph 3 of the Constitution. It was under the booing of some deputies and the chants of some others that the leader of the majority made this shock announcement this afternoon. Almost immediately, several hundred people gathered in Paris on the Place de la Concorde to protest against this decision, denouncing a "democratic anomaly".

At the same time, the trade unions, more united than ever, have called for rallies throughout France, tonight, tomorrow and this weekend. The deputies, for their part, are criticizing a measure that is "more than anti-democratic". On the right as well as on the left, the arm wrestling is engaged with the government. The Republicans, officially more moderate according to the words of Eric Ciotti, are actually more divided than before and some even intend to vote motions of censure within the party.

A measure that, contrary to appearances, has more than ever brought together the French people, determined to put an end to this form of one-way democracy.
